Day 2 of MPGL 3-8 held on August 28, 2011 featured the 16 qualifying teams from day 1. Again the 16 teams are divided into groups of 4 for the group stage of day 2. In order for these teams to advance to the championship stage they need to come out at least 2nd in their group.

Group A was considered the group of death because it featured 4 favorites. Among those 4 were ASUS.MG, ASUS.MI, Pcfc.IntrA, and XctN.TnC. XctN.TnC managed to come out with a clean record while ASUS.MG, ASUS.MI, and Pcfc.IntrA were tied at 1 a piece. Because of the time rating MG, ASUS.MI was able to qualify for the championship stage.

Top teams, MPGL veterans and some rookies were evenly distributed among the rest of the groups. After the group stage was finished top teams Dreamz and Sweetopia and veterans XctN 2, Badburn, KVG.YBC as well as rookie Minds advance to the championship stage.

After the day 2 group stage these are the top 8 teams that are qualified for the championship stage:

ASUS.MI
BadBurn
Dreamz
KVG.YBC
Minds
Sweetopia
XctN.TnC
XctN 2

In the playoffs began with XctN.TnC and Dreamz facing off. After a long and close match Dreamz emerge victorious. In bracket B, rookie team Minds pushed top team Sweetopia to the brink but experienced proved to be a tough opponent for the rookies and Sweetopia took advantage and won. ASUS.MI and BadBurn crushed their opponents XctN 2 and KVG.YBC to face off in the next round.

In the next round ASUS.MI advanced to winners’ bracket finals by beating BadBurn. Dreamz also advance to the winners’ bracket finals by taking down Sweetopia. In the winner’s bracket finals ASUS.MI showed why they were the favorites and defeated Dreamz in less than 30 minutes to earn a twice to beat advantage in the finals.

In the losers’ bracket newly sponsored by the Net.com XctN.TnC slowly gained momentum by easily beating rookie team Minds and veteran team BadBurn. XctN.TnC had to take down Sweetopia in order to once again meet Dreamz. XctN.TnC got their revenge by defeating Dreamz to set a date with ASUS.MI in the finals.

Having comeback from Germany as team Philippines and with twice to beat advantage ASUS.MI better known as HAPPYFEET were the heavy favorites. In game 1 XctN.TnC seemed to have countered ASUS.MI by picking Sandking. ASUS.MI managed to even up the game through ganking. Through stellar play, aggressive moves, and constant pressure XctN.TnC stole game 1.

Game 2 of the finals can also be called as the Perfect game for XctN.TnC. Perfect laning, ganking, and decision making tipped the scale to XctN.TnC’s favor. XctN.TnC didn’t have a death on their record until late in the game. The score was 22-0 before their record was tarnished but that tarnished can be neglected because they have pushed ASUS.MI on the brink of defeat. 27 minutes into the game the “GG” was called and XctN.TnC are now MPGL 3-8 champions.

With the MPGL 3-8 ended here are the top 4 rankings of MPGL season 3

ASUS.MI 148pts
XctN.TnC 145pts
Dreamz 108pts
ASUS.MG 105pts

ASUS.MI are holding onto their crown with a slight lead of 3pts. But there are two more MPGL left and a lot can happen in the small span of time. Till next MPGL.
